The Want of Matter
This three-part project aims to create a visual telling of the israeli art movement of the 60’s and 70’s, known colloquially as “The Want of Matter”.
Named for its minimalistic, ascetic use of material and media, the movement was very much influenced by traditional Jewish aesthetic concepts and expressions.
Tzurat Hadaf, the complex layout of the Gemara pages, served as a main typographical reference for me in designing this project.
